Question: Does completion of courses lead to a certificate or a degree?
Answer: Each master's degree requires students to successfully
complete nine courses, totaling 30 credit hours. Each course is three credits except the ninth course,
Practicum or Collaborative Research, which is six credits. All master’s degree students must take a 1)
Ubuntu Mind, 2) Sustainable Leadership, and 3) Project-Based Experiential Course. In addition to these courses, students take six courses in their fields. Three of the six courses may
lead to a graduate certificate.
Students may choose to earn a graduate certificate (3 courses) or a master’s degree (9 courses) at the

master’s degree in the future.

Question: How does Osiri University teach Ubuntu?
Answer: Ubuntu (“I am because we are”) is an African philosophy that promotes our common humanity, peace, and love for all people. Ubuntu recognizes the dignity in each person and calls on every person to live with the knowledge that our destinies are inextricably linked with each other.
Instructors and staff members are living examples of Ubuntu. They are committed to uplifting themselves, their families and others within their communities, thereby modeling Ubuntu to students.
Every student at Osiri take a required course called Ubuntu Mind, which teaches Ubuntu and similar world philosophies and practices, such as stoicism and meditation.
Deep and meaningful collaborations are also encouraged amongst students, faculty, and staff through work and assignments.
Question: What does the schedule and course process look like?
Answer: The academic calendar is designed to give students flexibility and learn at the own pace. Thus,
the academic schedule is for the applicant who want to dedicate to their studies full time and to the full-
time worker or parent who needs great flexibility to learn at their own pace. Courses are one hundred
percent online. Some are fully synchronous with the instructors meeting students on Zoom three times
per week. Other courses use a mixed approach with students learning on the Learning Management
System (LMS) asynchronously with some lectures delivered synchronously on Zoom once a week.
Question: Is there an extra charge for exams or degree certificates?
Answer: No, there are no additional fees beyond the non-refundable administrative fee. All degree
certificates will be send electronically to each student at no cost. If students desire a hard copy
produced and mailed to them, they will bear the full cost of the printing and mailing. Additionally, the
first transcripts will be sent to the student electronically at no cost. Subsequent, transcript request
(printed or electronic) will attract a small processing fee in addition to a shipping fee if applicable.
Question: What is the probability of passing all the courses since the administrative fee is non- refundable?
Answer: We cannot guarantee that a student who enroll at Osiri University will successfully pass all their
courses. Students have approximately one year to complete their master’s degree program with a
cohort. Students have only one chance to pass a course. Otherwise, they have to pay another
administrative fee to return the following year to take the course. Our instructors are skilled and very
student-focused. They will do their best to teach students. However, it is the responsibility of the
student to understand the material and pass the course. Students should dedicate time and effort to
study and pass each course.
Question: What is the evaluation process?
Answer: Evaluation of course learning objective varies from instructor to instructor. A course in
leadership may have fewer projects and more writing and reflections compared to a course on data
science and analytics, which may require more hands-on projects. Overall, participation will account for
40% of the grade; tests, quizzes, exams throughout the course will account for 40%, and final exams will
account for 40% of the grade.
This rule of thumb may change depending on the course and instructor.
