New Integrated Power Resource Planning
$0.00 – $100.00
Course Description:
New Integrated Power Resource Planning (NIPRP) is an applied electrical engineering course designed to be technically robust, need-based, and economically feasible. NIPRP is an implementable all-inclusive, sustainable development process, which helps learners understand how to dynamically balance the supply and demand of engineering requirements over the life of the system – with near-term (operation), mid-term (operation plan), and long-term (development plan). NIPRP draws from fundamental scientific principles, proven theories, techniques, tools, and practical experiences. The course blends indigenous knowledge, up-to-date innovation, and evolving technologies to demonstrate how to maximize societal value throughout the life of the implemented system. Thus, in the course, participants will learn how to build engineering systems that are agile, flexible, modular, scalable, and adaptable to the target community growth and transition requirements. At the end of the course, using the field of electrical power, as an illustration, participants will earn a working knowledge on how to develop an integrated plan to manage the socio-economic-environmental sustainability, demand, supply, and delivery component of an engineering project. This course is designed to prepare the practicing and aspiring engineers/other professionals to be able to work with multiple stakeholders to implement integrated power supply plans for sustainable development. No pre-requisites are necessary.
Learning Outcomes:
By the End of the course, participants take away the following:
- Understand what NIPRP is and how it can be applied in African countries
- Learn the components of a typical power system planning, development, and operation process
- Practice applying the components of NIPRP in a team setting with case studies
- Learn a new process to conduct specific NIPRP
- Produce a short NIPRP report for their community, district, or country power system
